IDENTIFICATION There
are two Suborders to the Order Odonata: Damselflies
(see also here) i
Dragonflies
(see also here)
Dragonflies
are generally large, thick-bodied and fast flying.
Damselflies on the other hand are
generally small, thin-bodied and have a weak flight. The only family that could cause some
confusion are the Diphlebias, which are actually classed
as damselflies although they look rather like
dragonflies, but these are
fortunately very distinctive, being bright blue and
occurring on rocks in fast-flowing streams.
