Female identification: Markings slightly less bold than male. Abdomen even thickness along its length, lacking any 'pinch-point' near the base.

Similar species: Most similar to E. guttata and E. tillyardi though neither have yellow spots at the base of the wings. Both differ by having relatively small spots on segment 9 and lack the relatively large spots near the tail tip on segment 9.

Behaviour: Tends to fly relatively slowly, low over water. Regularly perches.

Distribution: Apparently widespread throughout eastern Victoria. Recorded at similar frequency over a range of altitudes between 200-1400m.

Australian State distribution (from CSIRO Entomology)
