Male identification: A medium-sized blue and black damselfly with distinct postocular markings. All abdominal segments ringed 90% blue except segment 7 which is mostly dark - so the last quarter of the abdomen is blue. Thick blue antehumeral stripe. |

Female identification: Head and thorax similar to male. Abdomen with heavy blue markings on the sides of segments 2-5 but, unlike males, this does not reach the top of the segments. Tail tipped blue on segment 10 and half of segment 9. |
