Archaeosynthemis orientalis - Eastern Brown Tigertail


Male identification: Reddish-brown with paired yellow 'footprint' spots on each abdominal segment. Thorax has a pale mid-dorsal line. Pterostigma are brown.

Female identification: Markings slightly less bold than male. Abdomen even thickness along its length, lacking any 'pinch-point' near the base.


Similar species: Not like other species. Brown base-colour appears unique amongst Victorian species n this family.


Behaviour: No information at present


Distribution: Records from east Gippsland, the Victorian Alps and lowland areas around Melbourne.
