Beaked Whale Strandings

A 5.5m long female Strap-toothed (Layard's) Beaked Whale Mesoplodon layardii stranded on a beach in Victoria in January 2002.

A 6.15m long female Cuvier's Beaked Whale Ziphius cavirostris stranded on a beach in Victoria on 2nd June 2004.

Live Stranded Cuvier's Beaked Whale (note, some viewers may find the animal's distress disturbing)

HQ and very informative video of probable Gervais Beaked Whales in the Gulf of Mexico. Most of the smaller beaked whales look and behave like this.
