| Twenty-one birds in
fifteen separate encounters over three days. No birds were seen
west of Scott Reef on day 3 but there were concentrations in
water between about 300-400m deep along the shelf edge and, on
day 6, over a shallow rise just south of Ashmore Reef. The
largest group size was 5 birds (orange dot).
The nearest known breeding site is in New
Caledonia. The birds off NW Australia could be post-breeding
(seasonal) but may occur year-round as non-breeding individuals.
