Marine Wildlife Adventures lead unique
cruises to remote parts of the Australian continent documenting
spectacular wildlife.
We began leading trips to look at whales and dolphins off the
southeast coast of Australia and this soon grew into a data gathering
exercise, revealing the region's previously unknown natural wealth. Off
southeast Australia alone we have recorded over a dozen species. Add to
that trips to look at Blue Whales off Victoria, seabird trips off
Tasmania and the first surveys of seabirds in the Coral Sea, we began
to realise that there was a serious lack of baseline information on our
own environment just beyond the horizon we can see from land.
"Despite being remote,
the marine environment need not be out of reach of the public"
Marine
Wildlife Adventures is run by Simon Mustoe, a
consultant and has advised conservation groups, governments and
industry on development and management of the marine environment. There
is a huge gap in knowledge of the marine environment but
also between the scientists who study it, and the general public.
Despite being remote, the marine environment need not be out of reach
of the public.
Marine Wildlife Adventures has grown from this philosophy. Each of our
trips takes people to places rarely if ever explored and we always find
something interesting. Every trip is different and eveyone
goes away with a new fascination and appreciation of the marine
environment, often through their own photographs and accounts of their
experience.
"Each of our trips is led by and / or attended by marine scientists
with an infectious enthusiasm for wildlife"
Each of our trips is led by and / or attended by marine scientists with
an infectious enthusiasm for wildlife and data is collected and
contributed to conservation. Promoting the experience and an
understanding of our planet's less well known citizens is one way we
can help raise the profile of these outstanding areas.
